While at Illinois State University, advisors in International Studies may ask you to complete forms that will help us to assist you with various processes. Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact your Immigration advisor.
Immigration requires that you notify them of any changes in your address or name within 10 days of moving or changing your name. Please complete the AR-11 form and mail it to the Department of Homeland Security. Be sure to also update your address at 107 Moulton Hall and notify the International Studies Office of your new address or name.
Advisors in our office can provide a variety of letters if you wish to travel, invite family to visit, or need to certify that you are attending Illinois State. Please complete a Certification Letter Request Form.
If you need more time for your study program, you can apply to have your I-20 form or DS-2019 form extended.
International students who wish to learn more about real American family life can sign up to have a friendship family in the community. Complete this International Hospitality Form and give it to International Studies.
Never drop a class, or reduce your course load, without first talking to International Studies because it is an Immigration law that you must always maintain a full-time schedule. There are only a few reasons that Immigration will allow you to take a less-than-full-time course load. If you find it necessary to take fewer credit hours, you must first receive approval from the International Studies Office.
The Office of International Studies and Programs accepts tuition waiver applications for the Fall, Spring and Summer semesters. Preference is given to applicants who have the F-1 or J-1 visa, who are in good academic standing, are active in international activities in the ISU community, and have completed one full year of study at ISU.
